Just 50 minutes away from Johannesburg, sits Forum Homini, a small nestle of tranquillity and leisure, hardly like any other.
Located within the Letamo private game estate in the Cradle of Humankind virtually everything about this 5 star manmade cave establishment is as immersed in nature as it is mind blowing!
I popped in to enjoy a quiet Friday and I was not disappointed. The deluxe suite which boasts a double indoor and outdoor shower (much more enjoyable on the outdoor side of life though), an oval bath and, wait for it, a jacuzzi right outside the door, was nothing but comfort!
This place takes nature’s privacy to a whole new level. The cave like architecture basically ensures that once inside your suite you are literally blocked from other suites and their occupants, perfect for a recluse like yours truly. The suite also has a big room which opens out to a small outside sitting area which is a close enough to the adjoining bush to make you feel one with nature without feeling unsafe. Not a bad space to watch the beautiful night skies and also take in ambient wildlife sounds as nature nestles you in its virtually untainted comfort.
Back to the suite, the interior is majestic and the décor quite tasteful. Having supplemented the (optional) welcome bottle of bubbly with additional stock, the sizeable bed was near impossible to get out of. Fortunately enough there was the 5 star Roots restaurant to look forward to, for both dinner and breakfast, and what a delightful culinary adventure that was! The only thing that could possibly match the quality of the food is the beautiful scenery around the restaurant, which is set right next to a small dam…and to describe what that looked and felt like, I would have to write an entire novel!
